Changing a Recessed Spotlight bulb begins with identifying whether the fitting uses a replaceable GU10 bulb, an MR16 bulb or an integrated LED module. Check the printed voltage carefully. A low-voltage MR16 lamp must match the output of the existing driver or transformer.
Step 5: Match the Replacement Bulb
The new bulb should match more than the base type. Confirm:

Reinstall the retaining ring and trim. Restore the circuit and test the light. The bulb should start normally without flickering, buzzing or changing brightness unexpectedly.
Switch the power off again if:
The bulb flickers continuously
The trim becomes unusually hot
The lamp does not remain secure
The dimmer behaves incorrectly
A burning smell or abnormal sound appears

What If the Spotlight Has an Integrated LED?
An integrated LED spotlight does not contain a conventional user-replaceable bulb. Depending on its construction, maintenance may require replacing the driver, LED module or complete fitting.
When replacing a complete recessed spotlight, confirm the existing ceiling cutout, fixture diameter, installation depth and input voltage. A new luminaire with the wrong cutout may not cover the opening or fit securely.
